| The extract is derived from roots of Shatavari, botanically known as Asparagus racemosus belonging to family Liliaceae. This Indian spinous under-shrub, with tuberous roots possesses a no. of valuable medicinal properties. It is believed that Shatavari taken during pregnancy can lead to the birth of a "super baby" in terms of physical and mental abilities. The Asparagus racemosus root is referred in Ayuvedic literature as galactogogue, appetizer, alterative, stomachic, tonic, aphrodisiac and is useful in tumours, inflammations, diseases of the eyes, throat complaints, leprosy, epilepsy, night blindness. Roots of Asparagus racemosus plant contain saponins viz. shatavarin I to IV along with kaemferol, asparagamine A etc. |  |
