The extract is derived form the exudate of Commiphora mukul plant belonging to family Burseraceae. Commiphora mukul is commonly called Guggul. It is mainly used as a Hypolipidemic. Guggul was primarily used to prevent this condition by lowering serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It is said to treat and control rheumatoid arthritis. It is able to reduce pain and morning sickness, significantly. The major phytoconstituent is guggulsterones. These compounds have been shown to be responsible for the lipid-lowering actions of guggul.
